    Making Black History!

Recently I was messaged by a person who follows my blogs--- yes I have a fan or two --- asking me why I had not written anything for Black History Month. *crickets* I really had not thought about writing anything for Black History Month. The reason I wrote "crickets" is because the question caught me off guard. I didn't have a response to it other than "just because" or something like that. Over the last couple days I have been thinking about why haven't I talked about Black

I Hate You! Where is Love?

Lately I have had a lot of conversations about personal growth and ownership with people from all walks of life. At various points I tell some of my life story, and, with it, I connect with the people I meet. The interesting part of it all is that it's older people and younger alike that I share these stories and life lessons with. It doesn't seem to matter who it is. With each conversation I have, I reflect on my life, my choices, my failures, and my successes, too. It has b

    Lessons of Two Memorials

Several years ago as a member of the US Navy Reserves I went on temporary duty to Hawaii. During my two weeks there I had the privilege of visiting the USS Arizona Memorial. I once wrote of my experience that all the noise around me disappeared. The only thing I could feel was the energy of the memorial, of the ship below the water, the rainbow of oil slowly seeping out and the madness from that clear blue sky day on December 7, 1941. Even as I recount it now I am overcome wi

    I Won't Hate Them!

The other day I was driving back from the Naval Shipyard in Bremerton. As I cruised up the road heading into my little Port Orchard, Washington town I saw an Eagle sitting on one of the standing water post. Now, you would think being a 10-year Navy Reservist I would know what that water post is actually called, but, alas, I do not, so we will just leave it at calling it a water post. Anyway, after snapping a few pictures of the Eagle I got ready to continue on my journey home

    Wish We Could Meet

As I left the restaurant I turned back at the table and had to snap a picture. This picture right here. Nothing spectacular unless you like the wall art, which for the record, I do. Otherwise it is just a table with two chairs and two place settings. I snapped this picture because of a thought ---I know I have lots of them ---that crossed my mind. Take a look at the picture. What do you see? What do you feel? Do you feel anything at all? Some of you may be reading this asking

    I Asked the Sky

I asked the sky what it felt like to have people always look up at you, To sit in awe of your beauty, your colors and all the things you do, The sky in all its golden beauty looked at me and began to say, I don't know why you look at me in awe because I don't see it that way, Perplexed at the response I asked the sky what do you mean, And with a chuckle the sky said that life isn't all that it seems, You see, I know what it is like to soar over all of the land, I know what it
